Rainwater Revival Offers $1,500 Grants to Schools
If you know teachers in Hays County elementary schools, please forward this info to them. The grants this year are only for Hays County elementary schools, in the future, they will extend to a much larger Hill Country area, so this year is likely the easiest year to obtain a grant.
"Organizers of the Rainwater Revival are seeking to award grants to elementary schools in Hays County that will be used to further water conservation education or to promote rainwater harvesting at the school site. The grant money, a total of $4,500, was raised by auctioning off rain barrels painted by professional artists at the award-winning 2010 Rainwater Revival.
“We will award grants of up to $1,500 per selected application to be used during the 2011-2012 school year,” Karen Ford, chair of the upcoming 2011 Rainwater Revival said. “One of the purposes of our rainwater festival is to help young people learn valuable lessons about the fragility of our clean water, the functionality and benefits of rainwater harvesting, and how to live responsibly and protect our natural resources. We want to provide financial assistance to encourage elementary schools to incorporate these lessons into their school programs, and to teach by example by using rainwater catchment systems at the schools.”
The application deadline was recently extended to August 1. Applications can be emailed to info@RainwaterRevival.com or mailed to HCA-Rainwater Revival, Attention Grant Program, 15315 Hwy. 71 West, Bee Cave, TX 78738.
Grant requests should include:
-A one-page description of the project, including number of students reached, expected outcomes, length or duration of project, and general management and participation in the project;
