Schools Receive Grant Checks from 2010 Rainwater Revival Rainbarrel Auction

Hays County, TX – With the start of the new school year comes an opportunity for new learning experiences. To help make that happen, on September 15 the Rainwater Revival Grants Committee presented $1,500 grant checks to each of three Hays Consolidated ISD elementary schools – Blanco Vista, Buda and Tobias. Teachers at the schools had proposed projects that will help students learn about the need to conserve water and how to collect rainwater to provide for a variety of needs. To fund another round of grants for the 2011-2012 school year, professionally decorated rain barrels will be auctioned at the upcoming October 8 Rainwater Revival in Dripping Springs.

Buda Elementary School fourth- and fifth-graders, as part of an after-school Green Team club, will use the money to buy and decorate rain barrels and learn about rainwater harvesting. Teachers at Blanco Vista and Tobias Elementary Schools also received grant checks.
